Serving tourists in the Colwyn Bay area, a through window touchscreen kiosk was sourced by Imaginet and a highly innovative and attractive interface was created that integrates content from the main website's content management system.
Background
Conwy County Council have worked with Imaginet for a number of years on their Visit Conwy website, which helps to attract new visitors to the area. To help improve services for tourists already in the area, Conwy CC required a touchscreen kiosk solution to be placed in their Colwyn Bay tourism information centre.
Solution
Imaginet sourced a through-window touchscreen kiosk that would be able to provide visitor services 24/7 from the location in Colwyn Bay. We then recommended a solution that would hook into the main content management systems for the website so that content could be re-used on the kiosk interface, saving time and resources. Key features of the solution include:
- An extremely attractive design for human computer interaction (HCI) was created building on the branding within the website and making effective use of the Council's many beautiful images
- All content is pulled directly from the website including accommodation, attractions, events and restaurants
- The latest news is pulled onto the 'homepage'
- Google Maps are used to overlay content from the databases such as accommodation and attractions providing a incredibly useful method of locating places of interest
- A flash animated attractor (screensaver) was created to draw people to the kiosk
- Full hardware and software support is offered
